Dr. Glenn R. Buttermann is an orthopedic spine surgeon with Midwest Spine Institute, Minnesota.  He has mature practice based on experience, yet is also an innovator who has developed unique surgery methods and implants with an emphasis on preservation of spinal motion, and thus function.

His practice over the past 25 years consists of pediatric and adult spinal deformity, cervical and lumbar degenerative conditions, as well as complex revision and trauma cases. 

He is on call staff at the Twin Cities Shriner’s Hospital, and the founder of Dynamic Spine LLC, which has developed motion sparing spinal devices and disc replacement. 

 

He has published over 55 peer-reviewed studies and gives frequent presentations. 

 

Prior to his private practice, Dr. Buttermann completed a spine fellowship at the UC San Francisco, an orthopaedic residency and biomechanics fellowship at the University of Minnesota, medical school at Mayo.

 

In addition,  Dr. Buttermann has his Masters and Bachelors degrees in bio-engineering, physics and biology from the

UC San Diego.
